day in the life

The Day My Mother Lived

My mother is strong. She is kind. She is patient. She has cancer.

This morning my mother received the results of her biopsy. She was diagnosed with cancer of the breast. I received a phone call from my mother and the tears were held back only by the brevity of the conversation. After a moments of stunned silence, I reached for my phone and called my family, not so much to deliver the news, but to hear familiar voices. More moments of silence followed by tears and more silence, a long shower and silence.

My ability to express myself through written word has atrophied as my I've taken up photography. I recorded the day's events and emotions in a manner most comfortable to me: through the lens (or perhaps hide behind it). Forgive the length and haphazardness of this post as I've hardly had time myself to digest the day.
